Things Looking Up at Pittsburgh Boat Show
Wednesday, February 01, 2012
It’s no secret that the boating industry has suffered during the recent economic downturn. During times like these, everyone involved in the boating community has been looking for any little glimpse of hope that things will turn around. If the 2012 Pittsburgh Boat Show is any indicator, maybe the economy and the boating industry might just be making a comeback.
Although final numbers weren’t available through Sunday, attendance for the first three days of the show was up roughly 18% over last year. This alone is a reason to smile. In addition, the general consensus among the dealers was that people were much more interested in buying boats when compared to last year. Let’s hope this is resurgence continues. It can only mean better times ahead for everyone involved in boating.
In addition, more people at the show meant more great boaters stopped by the BoatPittsburgh.com booth. We gave out hundreds of koozies and almost doubled the number of entries in our annual Gas Card Giveaway over last year.
Speaking of the giveaway, congratulations go out to David Micklo as he was chosen from almost 200 entries as this year’s winner. David, who keeps his Malibu V-Ride at Smitty’s Marina, will receive a $50 Get-Go Gas Card and a Prize Pack filled with BoatPittsburgh.com goodies.
In case you didn’t make it out to Monroeville, be sure to check out the photos from the show. In addition, several dealers will be hosting Open Houses in the upcoming weeks. Each Open House is another opportunity to get great deals on new and used boats while also getting a chance to check out the dealer’s facilities. For more information on upcoming Open Houses, check out this article.
Several dealers will also be set up at the 26th Annual Allegheny Sport, Travel & Outdoor Show held February 15th-19th 2012 at the Monroeville Convention Center. For more information on that show, check out their website.
Finally, the staff at BoatPittsburgh.com would like to thank everyone that came to the show and stopped by our booth. It was great to catch up with our boating friends and it was especially nice to meet so many new boaters and people looking to enter into the sport. Thanks again and we hope to see you again out on the water!
