Bridgewater Proposes Docking Fee Ordinance
Monday, January 04, 2010

Once again a local government is attempting to squeeze more money from boaters in Western Pennsylvania. However, it is not the City of Pittsburgh this time; Bridgewater Borough that rests along the Beaver River is trying to pass a new ordinance that will tax local boaters.

The borough council has proposed a Docking Fee Ordinance which will assess a 5% tax on the nonresidential slip fee collected by the local marinas’. This tax is to be collected by the marina owner for which the marina owner will receive a 2% commission. This ordinance will also require an annual report by the marina owner that would include the name of the individual renting the slip for the season, the make, year and registration number of the water craft.

If you might be affected by this ordinance and are opposed to its passing, you are urged to contact the Bridgewater Borough council and Mayor to voice your opinion.
