Casino Dockage Plans
Saturday, April 05, 2008

Despite all of the turmoil that has surrounded the North Shore boating access, there is some good news to report for boaters that like travel to that part of the river.
As most people already know, there will soon be a new destination for boaters to utilize. The much talked about Majestic Star Casino will not only provide a source of entertainment for land lubbers, but for boaters as well.
“Yes, a dock is in the plans for the Majestic Star Casino,” confirmed General Manager Ed Fasulo.
The Casino has plans to build a wharf similar to other areas of the North Shore. Although there are no plans for any type of floating dock system, they are looking to provide roughly 100 feet of shore line dedicated for pleasure craft use. Mr. Fasulo also stated that there would be an additional 40 feet of wharf dockage that would be restricted to emergency use only.
Unfortunately there are some potential downsides with the boater access. There will not be overnight dockage and the Casino does not have plans for any type of electric or water hook-ups. Although many of the details are still being worked out, it doesn’t appear that there will be any dock hands on duty; however, there won’t be any fees for dockage.
There is also a great deal of uncertainty regarding dockage for river shuttles including the Gateway Clipper fleet.
“Although we hope to have access, there is no other space for shuttle services,” added Mr. Fasulo. This means that part of the 100 feet of available dockage could, at times, potentially be used for river shuttles. However, Mr. Fasulo didn’t seem to think this would impede access for pleasure boaters.
Aside from offering over 100,000 square feet of gaming area, there are also many other reasons to check out the Casino. Other attractions will include 5 first class restaurants and 4 Casino bars and lounges.
