SEA Seeks Funds For Riverfront Park Maintenance

 Most boaters from all three rivers have at some point made the trip to the North Shore in downtown Pittsburgh. Whether it was to catch a Steelers game, a Kenny Chesney concert or even to grab a bite to eat at the local restaurants, most of us have stopped by there. In reality we are pretty lucky to have such a place to dock at for free. One way to keep the park and wharf in top condition and free for all boaters to use is to make a donation to the North Shore Riverfront Park Maintenance Fund. The Sports and Exhibition Authority, the agency in charge of maintaining the North Shore Riverfront Park, is turning to the groups that use the park to help out. It takes great effort and coordination to keep the Park properly maintained all-year round. Unfortunately, the Authority does not have a dedicated revenue source to meet ongoing costs. Only 30% of the Park maintenance budget is covered by existing special event fees and donations. In addition, unforeseen events such as floods can totally overwhelm our budget. To close the funding gap, the Authority has launched a region-wide campaign to invite all users of the Park to contribute to the maintenance fund. Your donation will be made through the secure PayPal system, and is tax-deductible. The staff at BoatPittsburgh.com has set a goal of $2000 that we hope to raise through the BoatPittsburgh.com family. Because we feel so strongly about this cause, we are going to donate 10 cents for each dollar raised until we reach our goal. Please click on this link to contribute to the fund.
