Change marks 50th Anniversary of Pittsburgh Boat Show
Monday, January 04, 2010
After fifty years of existence, most things change and evolve with the times. The same can be said for the Pittsburgh Boat Show. The biggest change for the 2010 Pittsburgh Boat Show will include a new location.
The 2010 version of the boat show will no longer be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh, but will take place at the newly renovated Monroeville Convention Center. Due to rising costs and a slumping economy, the move was necessary said Tri-River Marine Trade Association director Andy Talento, the organizer of the event. The show will also be held during only one weekend this year from Thursday, January 21 through Sunday, January 24. Despite these changes, there are still many positive aspects of the new location.
First off, parking at the Monroeville Convention Center is free. The location also allows those that don’t want to deal with the hassle of Downtown traffic an easier time accessing the show. Visitors of the show also have almost unlimited choices of nearby shopping and restaurants if they choose to make a day out of their trip to the Boat Show.
Of course don’t forget about the real reason to attend the boat show: the boats. Although the list of models to be on display is not finalized, Talento expects a mix of new, non-current, and top quality used boats to be on display at the show. He also feels this is the best time to buy a boat. "Now is the time to buy a boat. The market is swinging back. This might be the last year we see prices this low," said Talento.
In addition to the boats, there are several other reasons to stop out and see the show at the new location. Most importantly is the must see BoatPittsburgh.com booth. We will be there signing people up for our $40 Get-Go gas card give-away while handing out the 2010 edition of our BoatPittsburgh.com Koozies. The BoatPittsburgh Girls will also be on hand Saturday evening to take photos and spread some warm boating cheer in the middle of winter.
For more information about the show, feel free to visit their website. We look forward to seeing you at the new Monroeville Convention Center in January as we celebrate 50 years of the Pittsburgh Boat Show.
