    Default Classifieds Section Edit/Delete

    I have an ad for a boat (1994 Chaparral 1930 ss w/trailer).
I don't recall having a way to edit/delete the post after adding it to the list.
Is there a way that you can auto-delete them after 45 days like Craigslist does (or at least 1 yr, whatever) or some other way to edit/delete them as a user.

I received a call about it last night and had to regretfully inform the caller that it was sold almost 2 years ago...

Hi Jzelt - I have deleted this ad for you. Also, for future reference (any anyone else wondering) you can edit your ad by making sure you are logged into the forum and then going to classified section and clicking My Account in the upper right hand corner. This should allow you to delete or edit ads in the future. We have worked on this area since you have posted that ad a long time ago so things could have changed since then.

Also I think that is a good idea to have the ads self remove after X days, then the user could always come back to renew them with one click for another X days if they still want the ad online. This would keep the section cleaned up a bit. We will look into this. Thanks for the suggestions!

    MikeyJ,
i gotta say as long as the poster doesnt mind it isnt such a bad idea to keep them around

first of all this site is like a family!

i answered an ad for an outdrive that sold last year
the poster regretfully informed me that he sold it over a year ago.
however he then made a call on my behalf and got me taken care of quickly
i am indebted to him for sure
and also to the boatpitsburgh family for being who we are.
that is a contact i would never have made.
i would probably still be scratchin my head,
instead i am helpin the economy and burnin some gas

see you all on the water

Thanks for the opinion. I'm glad that worked out for you! I think the idea is that we wouldn't want people being contacted on a regular basis for an item that no longer exists, which could waste time for both parties. Hopefully if you asked your question on the forum etc then others would be able to help. We will certainly keep this suggestion in mind for future changes to the classifieds section though.

Thanks a lot for being a part of the community. It is great that boaters are as helpful online as they are when we are all out on the water!
