Default Volvo Penta 4.3 GL change spark plugs question

I'm trying to change the spark plugs on my 2000 Volvo 4.3GL PEFS. There is a thin stainless steel tab, (which is a support for the spark plug wiring harness) hanging in the way of getting my spark plug socket on the spark plugs closest to the rear of the boat, on both sides.
My manual says to never use a universal swivel fitting because you can break the plug and create a huge problem.
Is it okay to bend this tab upward, out of the way or should I try a box type wrench? Do I need a special type of box wrench or some other thing I dont know about?
Page 25 of the manual shows the tab I'm talking about. It is in front of the spark plug closest to the rear of the boat.
    Thanks, Bob

No experience with a Volvo, mine was Mercruiser, but I had to use a swivel to get two out. I have broke the ceramic on a plug, but that was putting them in and I think I over torqued it. I think if you apply steady force, it would be ok to use one and just don't try to over tighten it. Snug it up and maybe another 1/8". Some plug sockets have a fitting on the top of them that a wrench would fit, or maybe use an extension...

Well, I figured it out on my own. I bent the wire harness stainless tabs out of the way. Changed the spark plug. Then, bent it back. No problem. Thanks for your help.
