is it just me or is the sauger average size gettin a little larger
great to see
got back on them last night after the fireworks dashields pool
couldn't find them for a few days
a couple of channelcat also
all great then the rain came and forced me in
Hey buggy, don't know about the sauger, I have yet to get one this year! Fishing the mon mostly, been getting more walleye than I'm used to. No complaints, but it used to be all sauger and no 'eyes. Maybe the sauger came down your way! In any case good luck to ya.
official trade then, now that you mentioned it i havent seen even 1 eye
but the sauger are growing
last year my average was 10 to 12 inch
this year it as been 14 to 16 inch
i am fishing a lil different though
not getting anything on the berkly gulp chartruse minnow with curlytail
(the last few years it has been awesome)
but i am doing well with a gulp alive bucket of 3 to 4 inch
shiner split tails in the joyjuice.
more natural looking i guess
worms are also like magic in the last few days
what are you throwing at them nowadays
i fish mostly evening to overnight
and thinkin of rigging up one of those green blue or even white light systems
to shine in the water after dark
was thinking of puting some low volt amber side marker trailer lights
under the front deck of the lil toon.
just a little concern on the amp draw
i currently have a few sets of red led's in the cabin n love them
they dont seem to draw hardly any power
maybe ill just get a set of white or blue ones
only i want it brighter but dont wana use too much power i guess its a compromise
let me know what you think
Hey buggy, mostly black and silver shadrap and wally diver, been wanting to try the 'alive' stuff. As far as those lights, I got these LED strip lights at autozone I got white ones for the deck area of the boat, man are they bright! Probably use 'em for headlights! Judging by the 22-24 guage wire they prob draw next to nothing. Now my regular ctsy lights look rediculously yellow, gonna change them soon. I forget what the pkg said but on the strip itself it says 'alpena' they are encased in like clear rubber and self stick too. Should light up water real good. Think they got colors too. Mine are about a foot long but I think they got other sizes too.
sounds like we got about the same thing with those LEDs
my docking lights (fog) are realitively bright enough i shine them almost straight in the water so i dont blind anyone when i return to the dock
but they draw alot of juice i would be nervous fishing for a few hours with them on
i guess leds are the way to go i gotta find a cluster of them going shopping now
ill let you know what i find
ps i did some fishing after the fireworks on the way home and got into a bunch of 16 + channelcat but nothing else no sauger(unusual)
seems like i am a step behind.
cableguy greg,
thats exactly what i am trying to do.
i saw some cool video on those.
how do yours look? i am dying to see them.
when are you going to be out i gotta see this! i am on vaca all week usually on or around the beaver in the evening.
which ones did you get and how much power does it take to run?
i just bought two amber 6 led trailer marker lights to try
i have a lil toon i am going to mount just behind the 3inch thick trim on the underside (should not be able to see unless your in the water)
may get splashed a bit but not underwater.
i dont think they will be bright enough but here goes
i will be mounting while in the slip thank god for lifejackets
if they dont work well enough they will go (you guessed it) on the trailer. i needed an led set anyways.
hopefully i will put on tonite and give them a test run
