Default Pulled her cleaned her up with the secret mixture

Well I pulled my boat yesterday, changed the oil, changed the drive lube and greased everything and ran some anti-freeze.

That mixture of Lysol and peroxide is the bomb. I used it, I did not have a power washer just hit it with a brush with very little elbow grease and I was done in less than an hour.

Sad to take it back to the caves but it's ready for next year.

    Default secret mixture

    obxpelican,
    for all the newcomers,
and the one that didnt pay attention(me) last year. pontoon only
what lysol/pieroxide mix did you use and which lysol
and how much water did you use to dilute
how long did you let it sit
    are you seeing any residue?

i am interested much more this year as it applies to me now.
i plan on using a garden sprayer to spray it
    any tips out there?

thanks in advance for the replies

I did a 60 peroxide 40 lysol as someone had suggested, I let it sit about 15 minutes. I did not have a pressure washer so what I did was to hit it with a brush and it came off with a regular hose. I used a garden sprayer, and oh, no water. Now I used it on my outdrive, but mine is not a pontoon boat so make sure it does not do anything to your metal.... I've never heard of it hurting anything. I ended up using 3 bottles of lysol and peroixide, the dollar store had the lysol for like 3 for $5 and peroxide is real cheap.

I think if I had a power washer I would not have needed a brush, the junk starts bleeding off as soon as you spray it.

    Works great.

    chuck,
i am looking to use it on my new to me cabin cruiser
big hull on that thing not too bad though as its only been in the water for a few months

i may test on the toon after not sure
i used toon brite on the toon last year and it did ok but left residue

thanks for the tip on the volume also,
hate to start and not have enough juice

did you let your hull dry before you used the stuff
or wet down prior to spraying?
or did you take from the water and clean right away

thanks in advance for the reply

Don't wet it, let the gunk dry, you'll see that conconction will absorb into the gunk and then it starts to look like a horror movie, but it comes off really easy if you use a brush or a pressure washer.

IN addition we also use Magic Erasers to clean the hull after power washing the mixture off.

Those things continue to amaze me.

    Related question...

I am going to buff my boat for the first time tomorrow. The fiberglass just looks dull and grayish.

Any recommendations on a rubbing compound? Or should I even be using rubbing compound?

Try 3M Cleaner wax. If not, a product called Buff Magic, followed by Pro Polish does a good job.
