2012 Regatta Same weekend as Chesney !!! 6/30 -7/04 2012
I just read the Regatta is startin June 30th 2012 The same weekend as the Kenny Chesney Concert ( Tickets already in hand ) And Goin through July 4th 2012. What kind of problems is that gonna cause for tying up to the wall at the North Shore ? We were gonna stay through the 4th ?
After last summer, i think the Regatta organizers know that the boating public will be there for the concernt - and the organizers did everything in their power to work with the boaters to allow them to stay for the concert. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and assume, based on past practice, that the boaters will be able to tie up for the concert. That's not so bad, even if everyone has to leave the day following the show.
Those were some good times! Kenny didnt make it down to the boats last summer - rumor was he was sick and was resting up for the show. Hopefully he makes it down again next summer! Thanks buggy for bringing back those memories- i forgot that was there. Some people dont believe me when i tell them he played on my boat - i'll have to send them to that video from now on!
Is it true im hearing that to get my houseboat on the wall that i will have to have it there the Sunday before the concert ? If so is it okay to leave it there the entire week? ( Unattended or attended )
No Probably earlier. Concert is on 6/30 you Will probably need to be there Fri 6/22. I Would Not leave my boat unattended. I know a few people that do but I will not. Too much invested. You never know who might go onboard, Mess with the lines, Decide to move it to make room for themselves. Plus If anything happens on or with the boat you would be liable and insurance would probably deny claim because it was unattended. JMO.
Well i guess that is definatly gonna be my vacation week or will have to find a Boat Sitter !!! or wil spend the 5000.00 for a video surrvellience system for the boat Thanks for your input
dahmfh,
5 large? WOW
and i thought you could get it done cheaper, much cheaper
lets see, webcams, netbook or laptop, wireless internet connection,
just thinking here
you just have to figure an alert system (maybe motion sensors) so it tells you "pay attention"
i bet you could figure out somethin cheaper.
you got a smart phone?
i was just at walley world they had a security set up for around $150 just glancing.
not sure about notification tho
i guess thats why you didnt post your findings "understood"
on another note,
agreed beaverdave,
i dont feel too good about leaving boat unattended
whadya guys think about one of those shiftwork strings hangin out for the week?
that would be a good vacation week with days off and all
the 22nd n 23rd i could help watch
and the 26th thru i could handle 8-12 hour shifts maybe more! watching the string
we'll see
that is if you'all let the lil rinker show you her bumpers! lol
whadyathink?
otherwise ill be on the hook for the weekend starting the 29th
either way it should be a blast!
cant wait till spring!
yeah lil Buggy thats why i didnt post i would then need a satellite internet provider so that i could access the security system from my iphone. As for watch shifts i would be interested in that i definatly could take some shifts! my schedule is rather flexible !! ( Good Idea )
great,
glad to hear.
i am in!
so what ya think it will take to get Grantz to get us them boat pittsburgh logo stickers
with all the lil writing
"proper rafting rules" to post on that outside boat(mine) !
((i could help with the printing))
cant wait
We'll probably be down there that week too. I have a pretty flexible schedule in the summer so i can stay on the boat if needed - i did it for 10 days two summers ago and 8 days last summer - but the gas for the generator gets expensive. I'm with dave though - i won't leave the boat unattended overnight - and usually no longer than a few hours during the days that we are there. I'll be honest - sometimes the week leading up to the concert is as much fun as the day of.
OK. An average size marine Genny will burn between .5 to 1 gal an hour. You will not run gen overnite while sleeping so that leave's 16 hrs a day run time. Multiply that by number of days before and after concert (10) = 160 hrs gen run time. At the lower 1/2 gal/hr = 80 gals. 80 gal x $ 4.00 gal ( low guess) = $ 320 just for the gen. Get expensive real fast.
Add food and another $ 500 for beer makes u think twice about taking the boat.
BeaverDave,
good points!
not sure bout them big ol things you guys got there.
is it necessary to run the genny 16 hours a day?
just the fridge, hot water, tv, and battery chargers
or is that for the ac?
only 1 more question?
only $500 for beer?
i would be glad to help you consume some (ya know to get that average up a lil)
seriously,
thanks for the heads up
soooo you makin the trip?
merry xmas bud
