Prop Shaft Packing

Anybody know anything about repacking a prop shaft? We did the one with no problems. The port shaft is being a pain in the a$$. when we back the packing nut off it hits the keyway so it won't come all the way off the threads. we tried pushing the keyway up into the coupler (that's what we did on the other one and it worked fine) but the keyway won't budge. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

spray it with P,B blaster and let it sit. if that dont work gat a bigger hammer

pour some mad-dog "orange" into a spray bottle ,soak the entire area with it. it should work
