Default Where can I live aboard year-round?

I'm looking at purchasing a houseboat on the Beaver River to live aboard year-round. Does anybody know which marinas allow this?

Captains Quarters, and there is a houseboat for sale here. We've been aboard here for the last 4 years. Also the BVYC has some live aboards.

Good luck; winter is lonely, and challenging.......

What do you mean challenging? I like Captain's Quarters a lot. Any idea what it costs to keep a houseboat there?

    Hello Tim
Galleyslave is correct there are livaboards at Captains Quarters and the BVYC. While I can't say about CQ's pricing( guess would be $ 30+ a ft) I can talk about BVYC.

The BVYC is a private club, Joining is possible, The cost's will be less at BVYC but we require members to work a minimum amount of hours during the year to maintain the grounds and staff our events to support the club. If your want to discuss your option's at the BVYC send me an email, we could set up a time to discuss it.
There are currently 4 full time liveaboards and 1 snowbird(summer only).

What kind/size/price of houseboat are are you looking for. I may know of a couple for sale.

    Tim,

We are the only livaboards at CQ, we will not be here this winter. Thursday is the day we cast off and head south. The BVYC is a great club, friendly people, fine amenities, and nice docks.
Challenging is when the river floods and you can't get off the docks unless you have a row boat. Or when the ice packs break and there are football field size chunks of ice a foot thick coming down the river right at you. Or when it's so d*mn cold outside, the condensation inside the boat freezes your door shut.
But on the other hand, living aboard is peaceful and quiet during the winter.

    Pros and cons.

    Carol
