    Default Help! (please)

I just got home from riding up and down the river for an hour or so. I rode from just below Sandcastle to the West End Bridge twice. I stopped by the South Side dock (that's where I put in) and shut the engine off. When I was ready to start moving again, I gave it full throttle and when it got about half way, the ski started shaking a lot and wasn't moving as fast as it should have been. I tried it a few more times and it kept doing the same thing so I got it out of the water. I did hit a few decent wakes but it was running fine until I shut it off and turned it back on. I looked inside when I got home and didn't see anything that looked out of whack. It's a '96 Polaris SLT700. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what it could be or should I just take it to the shop?

    I'd check the impeller first.

yep, dinged mine last year. vibrates real bad and goes half the speed. Did you pull it up on shore? If so you may have started the engine or gave too much throttle in to shallow of water and sucked up some gravel. The slightest mark in your impeller will do this. Just hope you didn't do anything to the housing(can get expensive then). If you didn't pull it on shore , try checking up in the intake grate, maybe some weeds or line tied up somewhere.

it may be a fouled plug also.. if it's a two stroke I would check the plugs first. My sled will do this from time to time with warning until I started to use the high end two stroke oil.

Thanks for your suggestions. I didn't pull it up on the shore, I was just floating on the opposite side of the river from the ramp. I'll take a look at it tonight or tomorrow. It is a two stroke, what should I look for on the plugs?

    Thumbs up Solution

You guys are awesome! I just crawled under and pulled out a 1 1/2 long piece of plastic. I hope that was the whole problem (which I bet it is). Thanks for all your help, I thought I was going to have to take it in and empty my savings account (there's not that much). Thanks again! <- he looks the happiest
