Awesome fabrication job. How did you come up with a design (look at other trailers?),location of supports (was boat dry docked so you knew where the boards needed to be spaced so the rudder height etc was clear)?
Any part the hardest or needed redone the most to get it right?
Why the trailer guide on the one side only? Down current side of the trailer?
No wonder it took 2 weeks. 1 working while the other took all the pics.
Fantastic!
Again thanks for the compliments. I looked at and measured about
10 different trailer. Talked with a number of people, that haul big boats, and got their take on "The Perfect Trailer".
Boat was in water but I had taken measurement before it went into water after delivery. Did not have to make any changes after trailer was done. Floated boat on and it was a perfect fit.
Took a whole 10 minutes to pull boat and park on the hard.
The guide was put on one side so boat could be floated from dock onto trailer from down river side. One person can stand on dock and hold boat against post with a boat pole. Trailer is made so bow aligns square with front guides and with single rear
post. When all three are in contact the boat is centered over the bunks. The rear trailer outriggers are made so they can be lowered or removed to paint or service boat. There are platforms on trailer that will hold a bottle jack to adjust against hull.
The single rear guide is also made to slide in for storage and it is removable.
Also used the pod design for wheels. Keeps a min. of four tires in contact at all times. Added feature there is minimal bind on tires and axles going around turns. We have to make two turn on our ramp while going up incline. This design keeps all eight wheels on pavement the whole way. 24,000# capacity
The standard four axle trailers end up with all the weight on just two tires and one axle.
Are you still looking for a trailer? I think my Marina has one avaialble. is is a homemade trailer that had a 44 ft house boat on it. The boat sold and the owner would like to sell the trailer.
I believe it has 3 mobile home axles under it.
