    Bill,
this usually starts in february for me, but for some reason, i got the itch now.
Going to the boat show helps, since you can call it a boating weekend, i guess.
There is no answer, other than getting ready for spring.

You could attend the Bridgewater council meeting at 7pm on Tuesday the 19th.......I hope there will be lots of boaters there. Maybe that will give you a fix.

Default I recommend the shows, but Cleveland made withdraw worse for me...

I was up until 1 AM last night looking at all the brochures I picked up in Cleveland (just for reading material really) and the withdraw I didn't know set right back in this weekend. Fortunately I get to play with boats (or at least parts of them) pretty much year round, but it wasn't until I started staying at the photos of boats in warm places that I really started getting the itch actually.

On a positive note it made me really miss being on the water, something I promised myself to do much more of this year. For those of you I met in Cleveland - thanks for the warm welcome to Amber and I at the first "boatpittsburgh.com" event we were able to attend. I think she'll help provide a little motivation to get on the rivers this year after seeing the slide show at the gathering after the show... she didn't really know what she was missing before then.

I actually was out behind the garage the other day saw my sweet baby all covered up and cold, and I actually had a couple of words to say to her. I miss it so much thats all i talk about morning noon and night. I also keep looking on you tube for some new Boating videos, just to help cheer my spirits.

The only cure I've found to lack of boating season is taking up a new winter hobby... And what I've found this winter is snowmobiling... Not quite as much fun as the water, but it has been making the weeks pass quickly! (I can't believe I've actually been hating this 40 degree weather! haha) Plus I've met a new group of nice people with the same interests! (and a new local website and forum! trailconditions.com) Spring will be here before you know it! Less than two months until daylight savings time is back!

The boat show in Cleveland helped the itch.....but I still find myself missing our boat. I have also been on You Tube several times searching for boating clips...etc! In fact earlier last week I was trying to convince my wife to buy a new car, just so we would have a new toy to play with for a while, in the hopes to keep the itch at bay until the boat is back in the water. Any hobby helps keep the itch at bay, but sometimes it doesn’t matter what hobby you have….you still think about boating. Wow at least I’m not the only one….I thought maybe I had a problem or something. I think next year I will take a video of a long boat ride so that I can watch it next year at my low points of really missing boating.

    Default the itch got worse

I haven't paid much attention to what is on the market lately and while i enjoyed seeing boats it would take a winning ticket for me to ever own the keys to, one not as terribly far out of the realm of "maybe someday" I'll not soon forget is this Chris Craft Lancer 20 that they had in Cleveland. Thankfully not once was a salesman there for these boats... not that it really mattered of course.

It makes me wish I lived on a nice lake or the river and had countless destinations to bounce to and from with... I'd certainly go out to eat much more often if I got to drive that thing. If only I could justify spending the time it would take to turn the interior of my boat into something more like this... man it would be fun and probably cost $50k less too! Maybe next winter...

Anyone else get bitten by any particular model they saw or was it just me?

Hell.. I get the boating blues the moment I pull her out in the fall and get her winterized. Im looking forward to April so I can put the muffs on and fire that motor up to flush it out. I dont know if it helps of makes it worse, but I always take my breaks at work by parking the police car on the northshore where we all party at... I look out over the rivers and think of all the memories from summers past.

I really started itching when I dropped my engine off at the machine shop last week. I can't wait to try out all the new goodies.

I only have 2 major hobbies, boating and motorcycling. And both are off limits now. I do putt the dual sport around the neighborhood a few times in the snow, just for fun. But lately, it's been too cold to even work on the boat, so nothing is helping with the boat jones. Used to do the snowmobile thing, but I'm out of garage space for more motorsports.

I guess I'll go down to the garage and work on a bike. That may scratch the itch a little.

Well, lets see.... I built a new (bigger) engine. Then I built a spare. Still have to put the hydraulic steering on and all new gauges. Plus need to go tru the drive. Now I`m sandblasting my trailer and putting all new brakes, tires, bunks and lights on it. Cant wait till summer and only have to buy fuel!

I haven't had one year where "all I had to do is buy fuel"

Hopefully this will be the year (fingers crossed)

    Default not a year....

I said a "summer" only buying fuel! The total for winter is around 12k so far and I still didnt get hydraulic steering yet. Plus the race car is going to eat a grand worth of rings, bearings and blower strips before it`s officially summer. I hope your winter is a little less expensive Flapjaw!

Nitsuj, I was out on my KLR today. Hell, it was 35 degrees! I Bolted some new gadgets to her, including a battery monitor. I plugged in my Widders, and put on 20-some miles. Now if I could get the boat into the garage to bolt the lower unit on, I'd be ready for spring!

Yea, I take my DR out from time to time. And if the roads get snow covered, I go terrorize the streets. But until I can take the Ducati out and really shred, it's not spring. ;-)
