Chuck, the cable supposedly costs less than $1 an hour to run. Too bad the System 2.0 is about $30k right now, or I would have one. You can find/make a winch for under 2k though.
If you could combine a body of water, like a big farm lake, put the 30K into the system and charge say $15 - $20 an hour for the use that would be a neat business.
I've often thought it would be neat to setup a jetski rental business in the Pgh pool, you could make money and be on the river all summer. The problem is dealing with some of the public that are buttheads who ruin your skis.

I've always wondered what the insurance for the buttheads would set you back. As far as businesses go you could probably do it for < 40k even with advertising.
Most of the places I've seen sell the skis at the end of the year and buy new ones the next season.
Indirectly, yes I was kidding. I know you have a bunch of pics and I have looked at them all. Was wondering if you have video footage though that hasn't been linked.
As far as jetski's, I would want some sort of transponder on them and the capability to shut them down remotely. I can see a group going over the spillways.
I think it could go either way as a business. I am surprised there aren't snowmobile rental places up north in PA, but the demand must not be there. (for the little snow we have, I would probably have rented one vs owning when getting into it).
It would be nice, but keep in mind, you may not be spending much time on the water yourself unless someone else is going to take reservations/etc.
Probably the fact that you have to have taken a safety course to even drive one has a lot of impact on a business like that. I remember The Boardwalk used to rent them, but they stopped after a few years. I am not sure why, but it probably had to do with insurance.
JZelt, unfortunalty I do not have any recent videos. I am looking at getting the Canon 7D for this season though (it has HD video) so things could change.
Will be looking forward to seeing them.
While the still photos are a challenge to get as good/clear/well timed shots that you do, I think the footage gives a better appreciation of the entire maneuver and how quickly everything takes place.
