I have an English assignment at school to write a "Consumer Report" research paper. I decided to compare fish finder sonar/GPS combo units. I am asking for reviews of the following models.
Garmin GPSmap 430s
Lowrance LMS-522c iGPS
Standard Horizon CP180i
If you own one of these please respond. I will be able to use your comments and list this forum as a source.

As an English teacher in my other life away from BoatPittsburgh.com, I wish you luck on your paper! Unfortunately I don't have any of those items on my boat or I would be happy to give you some information. I hope someone else can help!!!
What I am specifically asking is:
1) satifactory display size & resolution?
2) power/depth any issues?
3) transducer type (skimmer, thru hull, shoot thru hull) any preference? and why?
4) ease of use?
5) special features?
6) value for the money? why did you choose this model?
7) any comments/recommendations?
I Chose A Combination Unit Made By Navman. It Is The 5500 Model. It Is A Chartplotter, Gps, And Fuel Management System. Great Unit, Very Precise, And User Friendly.
Fuel Side Is Very Accurate, And Screen Is Clearly Visible At All Light Levels. Total Cost Of Unit Was Under 700.00 With Accessories. Very Happy.
