After having several ideas for different names, I took a poll with friends and family and "Nauti-Boy" got the thumbs up as many people thought it was a fitting name.
We have a memorable story behind our boat name "Almost Wrecked." Three months ago we purchased a 2002 Sea Ray Sundeck 240 from Prince William Marina in Virginia. We found it on boattrader.com and it was a fantastic deal. We decided to pick up our own boat and trailer it home rather than have it delivered to Pittsburgh. After we conducted our final sea trial, we headed up to the office to finalize the paperwork while the marina's service department hooked up our new boat/trailer to my pickup truck. Being new to boating and trailering, we trusted that the service department of the marina would hitch our boat correctly to our truck. In fact, my wife asked the service techs repeatedly if they double checked our trailer hitch before we left since we had over 200 miles to travel. Once we got on the road, the excitement of our new boat really started to set in. About 40 miles outside of the marina on the Washington DC Beltway, our double axle boat trailer came unhitched after hitting a bump in a construction zone! The trailer hit the ground, sparks flew everywhere, and the boat went haywire behind us. I was able to slow down (from 55mph) and keep my vehicle under control while the trailer continued to move freely before slamming into the back of our truck. After we pulled to the side of the road, we called the State Police for assistance and then got out to assess the damage. The first thing we noticed was minor damage to the bumper of my truck. The trailer was on the ground because our security chains were not crossed. We also found that the trailer hitch was 2 5/8" in size but our ball hitch was only a 2" ball! There was no apparent damage to the boat and only minor damage to the trailer. When the state trooper arrived, he told us that we were very fortunate to be alive and that the majority of these accidents usually end with fatalities. Needless to say, we were very lucky. The marina came, repaired the trailer, and took the boat back with them. On the way home, when the shock of what just happened started to fade, we decided that having "almost wrecked" our new boat on the first day of ownership was something that we would never forget.

Reason: photo added.
And that is why I never let anyone else hook up a trailer to my truck. I always have to at least double check it. And I never hook up a trailer to anyone elses truck without making them double check it. Yikes!
When my now 6yr old son was younger he would get upset and say oh barnacles referring back to, at the time, his favorite cartoon Spongebob. So somehow this became the name of our boat (1994 2355) and plankton is going to be the name of our pwc which we plan to purchase in June.
I don't have any pictures yet because I haven't had the sticker made, but my boat is named "Someday". We always had bow riders and when we'd cruise around, I'd point to cruisers and tell my wife "Someday". As in "Someday, we'll have one of those." Well, when I bought the cruiser last year, my wife said I have to name it Someday. Only now that I have a cruiser, the meaning has changed. Now it means "Someday, I'll get it running." And "Someday I'll get it out of the yard." And even "Someday, I'll mow the grass around it."
My 67 Johnson bow rider is named "The Turd". No stickers for that one either. The wife just calls it that because it's ugly. Personally, I like the old girl, but she is ugly as sin. It's not so much a name as it is just what we call it.
Someday's new name sounds similar to mine... The sticker is currently being made, but if the contest is still going on once I receive it and put it on I will definitely post it! I bought my cruiser in November of '08 from Atlanta Georgia - Once I brought it home it obviously had to sit til spring, but couldn't wait to get it on the water! The first time out the engine coupler went - Because the transom was rotten - So it sat at the Marina til July get a new transom and stringers installed - Then once that was done, we put it back in the water and the 2nd time out the Engine spun a bearing and started making noise! So It's now on to year two and I've taken the boat about 1 mile since owning it - (drank alot of beer on it at the dock though!) Needless to say - since it came from the Peachy State of Georgia and with all of the non-stop problems - The ONLY fit name we could come up with is "ROTTEN PEACH"!
Two and a half years ago, I met Angel on a website. Angel is a native New Yorker who was living in Queens. She had made an interesting comment in a Military Vets Group chat room that caught my attention and after viewing her profile, something else caught my attention. She had been playing a game with her girlfriends late one night, the game was to come up with the best 2 word description of themselves. Hers was "Faithful Slut". It seems that the "Unfaithful" are to be ignored!
After several months of sending messages to one another, I mounted my Gold Wing and drove to New York where I met her in person. We had a date. It lasted till our wedding day, and is still going on. She came to Lake Raystown with me where we spent the summer on my boat, and stayed with me while I endured a victorious bout with cancer. We moved to Pittsburgh in January 2009 where we opened a Jewelry & Gift Boutique called "Angel's Out Of New York"
Naming my 2001 Doral 250SE the "Faithful Slut", is a tribute to Angel, a lady who has never let me down, neither has the Doral. We have it docked at the Fox Chaple Yacht Club.
About 4 years ago I had a bright idea to become a boater. So in conversation with a friend of mine he told me about someone he knew selling the boat I own now. So after 4 years of hard work and many hours repairing I have ended up here. I have had many exciting experiences on and off the water in the time I have owned my boat. Everyone I know always jacks me about how I meet someone and I'll talk to them forever. Maybe sometimes I do lol.
So anywhere we go and I start talking they look all yell "Flapjaw"
This a an awful pic in the garage I'll have to update it, keep forgetting to take a pic!
