    Default Trailer Bearings

Ok.... so I want to re-do the bearings on my double ski trailer, lets say I find a bearing shot, where does one buy them? And how about the seals, if you have to beat them out, where do you buy them?

They're actually easy to get. Almost any auto parts store *should* have them. If not, places like Tractor Supply have a wide selection of trailer bearings. (Not sure if you guys in the big city have Tractor Supply stores.) If all else fails, most marinas or boat shops have a good selection of trailer bearings. Same for the seals. You can usually get those the same place you get bearings.

Just make sure you pack them correctly. There is no replacement for this. Don't rely on zerks or bearing buddies. Pack the new bearings with grease in the palm of your hand, the old fashioned way. (Unless you have a bearing packer) If you've never done it, google how to pack bearings. There will be videos how to do it that explain it far better than I can type it.

Many moons ago I used to pack bearings in my palm, too bad there is no such thing as "pre-packed" bearings.

If there was pre-packed ones, they were probably packed by a 12 year old in a sweat shop in Indonesia. I'd still repack them myself just to be safe!

Some bearings like mine are hard to get because of the size. I have a 10,000lb trailer. But you can also go to places that sell camper parts as well. If you don't know what you have take a wheel apart. Remove both bearings and the seal. They should have numbers on them and get them ahead of time. Then change out all the bearings so you know what you have, order a couple of extra seals and keep the good used bearings as a spare. Just in case something happens.

Marine. Keep in mind it does not have to be blue. I have marine grease in my grease gun right now that is not blue.
