    Default Temporary Vinyl Repair Suggestions

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to temporarily reduce the further tearing of vinyl so that it can be prolonged for another season before I have it repaired? I have multiple issues with the vinyl in my boat and some can last a while as is, others I think need help.

The seats are very slowly coming apart at the seems but seem ok for now. I think I will just have them remade in the upcoming years. However, up on the sundeck, on much larger pieces of vinyl, there are some cuts or tears that are not near a seem. Some are an inch long for example and at least one is over 3 inches. I need to do something to keep water from getting in there and also reduce the chance of them growing before a full repair can be made. The vinyl is white.

Is there some kind of vinyl repair tape or something along those lines? I assume there is but also wondering if anyone has used any, where to get something like that and what brand etc?

    Thanks!

Try this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...dName=Permatex. I used to get me though the summer, seems to be working well. for some of the smaller ones there is a vinyl glue that dries clear

I went to NAPA I believe and got a vinyl repair kit. It has color pallet that you can mix. It also has clear glue you use before the color is applied.

I applied the glue to the slits and it works very well. I haven't taken the time to put the color on top of it to blend it in.

Thanks to everyone I am going to try one of these for sure. I may lean toward tape because of the ease of installation (knowing that it is just a temporary fix) on the larger rip that I have its almost 3 inches now. I may try the repair kits on one or two of the smaller (less than an inch) rips that I have. The larger one I am more concerned with making sure it does not go any further and keeping water out of the foam until I can have someone repair it.

If you can turn the vinyl over and work from the opposite side SHOO GOO is great. It is ugly on the surface. Another thing I have done with this stuff is apply it to the hull if you have an abrasion damage hole in the fiberglass. I actually repaired a inch long hole on my keel with it temporarily to get the season done. Gravity works on it so I put it in and supported it with duct tape till it set up. It is tough stuff. I think it would keep the damage from growing in your vinyl. MY boat sees lots of fishing and is used in shallow water.
