GPS?Chartplotter

I am unfamiliar with the waters around the PGH area. I plan to cruise it this summer. Can I buy a chartplotter/gps with pittsburgh area (Specifically Allegheny) maps? I am very comfortable with using them.

If I cant get this, how about paper charts?

C Map Makes An Electronic Chart For The Ohio River From Cairo To Pittsburgh. I Do Not Know If The Other Rivers Are Available Yet.

The Army Corps of Engineers puts out river charts that are available for purchase. You have to contact the local office or I think you can order them online. They also post all of the river charts online. Go to:

for links to all of the charts. If you only need a few charts or have unlimited access to paper and ink you can print them yourself.


In addition, The Pittsburgh Safe Boating Council publishes a very nice "Guide to the Three Rivers." It has charts and tons of other information. They are available through many local marinas and through mail order. I'll see if I can find out more information on how to purchase them and I'll pass it along as soon as I do.

I would really appreciate that. I am living in Germany and I get into town days before our trip. The more I can do online now, the better.

If you still need help with getting a Chartplotter, let me know. We carry Garmin, Raymarine and several others.

I believe Raymarine has some big mail in rebates this month.
