Kenny Chesney + 4th of July weekend = Huge party on the river.... At least I have some thing to look forward to this winter as I just wrapped my boat last night...
I hope they allow boaters as that will likely be the three rivers regatta !!!
I was just thinking that today. My questions are:
1. What is going to happen if everyone ties up (150+ boats) days ahead of time and river rescue asks people to untie from the wall so the city can shoot their fireworks display off on Saturday night? GOOOOOD LUCK with that..... lol
2. Will it be like last year's regatta? Kick us off the wall all day Saturday then have the largest bumper boats display ever seen in Pittsburgh!!! 100 boats fighting for a wall spot... LOL. Pluckebalm's vs. cruisers vs. ski boats. Scary stuff.
3. Who can be contacted to inform them exactly what they have on their hands for that weekend? It might be a good idea to be proactive if us boaters want to have a chance to raft off and party that Saturday.
On the Radio they said that Kenny asked when the Regatta was going to be and he planned his tour to Pittsburgh to coincide with it. He said that he loves Pittsburgh and seeing all the boats out there. So how funny is it that Pittsburgh doesn’t like boats at their Regatta
This is off of his new album, listen to the first part:
If kenny liked seeing all the boats tied up for a week along the river for his concert, he should have picked a weekend other than the regatta. There is no way that we will be allowed to be there that long with all of the other events. I would think he is much more interested in the "regular boater" being at his event hanging out and boat-gating than the power boat races and fireworks but who knows. Someone probably just thought that would be better but I'm not sure it will be.
Maybe someone should send that sound bite to those that make the decisions.
We may not, but maybe since he brings millions to the city, they might change for what he likes to see.
We have alot of boaters who come up from Beaver County to stay the weekend during his concert. It will really stink if they keep us away. They need to announce this before tickets go on sale! He should have picked another weekend.
So what do we do? You know that this is going to be a mess for us (boaters). Do we call the mayors office to find out more details? Do we post messages on Kennys fan sites and facebook cause i gota tell ya, it would probably be easier getting Kenny to change his tour date than to get cooperation from the city. I bet if Kenny knew what a mess this has made for his boating fans he would change the date....ok, I feel better now,,lol,,,what are your thoughts?

All of the above. The more people that know what can happen, including Chesney, the better. We need to be vocal on this one!
I agree with all. I have tried to call Y108 and Froggy radio stations but always a busy signal or no answer. I also sent an email to the reporter from the Post Gazette and got no reply. I have been looking on Kenny's facebook & Twitter sites but not sure where to post it. Any ideas?

If you scroll down to the Heinz Field link and RSVP to the event, it will allow you to post a comment. http://www.facebook.com/KennyChesney I agree, let's get it out there how dissatisfied the boaters are with the City of Pittsburgh during Regatta weekend.

I posted there and on the discussion tab of the main page.. probably will never get back to the right people but its worth a shot:
I told "Safety boat Bob" at my marina about the whole messed up situation. He is on the safety boat council and he said that he would mention it at their meeting. The problem is that all of the people who are involved with that damn rowing club by Wash. Landing are on every damn council and even influence the Regatta. Good luck getting those snotty stuck up people to even think of accommodating power boats. I've dealt with them for two summers down at Millvale marina and it has been interesting.
We might as well trailer our boats to the gold lots and party that way. No chance we are getting on the wall. Unless,,,,, you get a huge mess of boats tied up the week before and just string out the rafts. Have fun towing us all...
Please post your dissatisfaction with the City of Pittsburgh and the Regatta organizers on Kenny Chesney's Facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?ei...826307&index=1 C'mon fellow boaters, there is STRENGTH IN NUMBERS! Keep it clean, keep it respectful, this may be the best shot we have at getting our collective voices heard.
