I'm pretty sure wayne has some open upstream. Like if you drove down to the lower parking lot and looked straight ahead. Just go down and knock on his door. Or just put your boat in. He will find you for the $. Seriously though.....just knock on his door.
Wow, I wish I had checked this forum earlier. I've been calling every week since May 15th and he keeps saying to call back in a week because the end where my slip is wasn't ready. I've missed a month of the season now, and it sounds like I should quit waiting.
I just have a 16'er, anyone have leads on where there are vacancies? Peggy's is a no go because I have a dog that loves the boat, and I heard newport is all full. I left Lock Wall a message.
Branchport Boat Club is under repair as we speak. In case you do not know it, Wayne has had some severe health problems which he keeps personal. The winter was very cruel to the docks and property. This week Wayne went to West Virginia and bought new foam to refloat the sunken docks. The wiring has been repaired and the bathrooms are functional. A new hot water tank is ordered and will be in very soon.
This is one of the best marinas in the area, but the guy went down on his luck a bit. Give him a break, please. He is trying and I predict this will once again be a superior marina very soon. Next year he will advertise and hopefully draw back some of the lost flock. Why not wait and see. There are currently spaces available and at very good rates. Call 412-512-3718 and ask for Wayne himself. He is back. He is ready willing and able.
As a friend and neighbor I see no reason to give up on this place. Branchport will be restored to it's once prominance on the rivers.
Rich That is GREAT! news that the place will be getting repaired is great and very glad to hear Wayne is doing better. I think What most of everyones issue is to be honest right now the palce is one of the worst in the PGH pool. There is No ice no hot shower no wave runner crane the docks are twisted the docks are sinking when you come off the first step on the bridge its not even on the pole is swings out in the river. All the poles are covered in rust and all the docks are covered in rust and flaking and falling apart. And I dont even think that is the worst part from what I hear from everyone who left Alot of the people where and are upset about being left in the dark and a simple sighn by the bathroom to let everyone know hey we are sorry but we will be fixing things. The marina went down hill alot but our dock rates stayed the same and the lest posting a notice at the marina to tell everyone that it will be fixed asap would be great. I am sure alot of people would even come down on a saturday and help paint for free if Branchport just buys the paint. I love docking there and will as long as its in business it was one of the best in the marinas that is 100% for sure and I am sure it can and hope it will be again but I will be there either way. And a Huge Thank you for posting on here to let everyone know that it will be fixed not everyone at the marina reads this site as its pretty slow but i am sure the word will spread. If you guys need help with anything let us know on here I am sure people will be more then happy to help. Thanks again
Yesterday Branchport owner, Wayne Jones, had a company come in and upright all of the docks that were damaged last winter. Next they will be repaired ( early this week) and re-painted. It looks 200% better already. A new shower assembly is on order and will be in by the end of the week. So Branchport is almost totally back.
Comments about the ice machines removal were inaccurate. They were removed because a few boaters refused to pay for ice. The machines were short of cash for many weeks on end. It was done after warning sign were posted and a purely "business decision" was made. Wayne assures me he will once again try the ice machines next season and keep them they are showing a deficit. It costs lots of money to keep them running in the sunshine outside so if everyone cooperates, they will have ice again.
He does permit carring gasoline on a special dock, so that is a big plus. He is even considering free WI-FI for Branchport if interest is shown.
Stop by and see for yourself. Give Wayne a break, he has not communicated well with boaters but this will change. Regular mailings will resume like before and emails will be used when possible. He appreciates your interest and hope he can make it become positive in the future. If you were here and left, please consider coming back next season.
Branchport lives again, so stop by and say HI. Thanks

This Marina when full of abou 100 boats can bring in over 100K a year in dock fees so I really dont want to hear that the ice machine cost 20 bucks a month to run for 4 months a year is an issue. And the people stealing it are jagoffs ruining it for everyone and to be honest dont want them there cause what else might they steal? Spend a few dollars and put a camera up! I agree with the jetski crane also these might sounds like little issues to the people who Run the marina but the fact is I heard from many people who did leave is If i have to go to newport to launch my jetski or to peggys to buy ice why not just dock there then since they have everything i need. Really hope Branchport does get back to the way it was I used to brag to everyone about how nice it is and why its better then every other marina in the pgh pool but now well you know.. Again if wayne needed help painting anything i am sure if you guys posted something looking for people to help and he got the paint he woudl get more then enough help.
SOOOOOO Where is the new paint on the crapy falling apart dock? The docks are still twisted... esp the ones downstream near peggys. Almost back 100% lol That was funny. Its a shame it was once the best place to dock in my opinion. They lost atleast 50% of their boats and of the ones that are left from talking to people when I am down there at it looks like Branchport will only be 25% full next year if that. They way this economy is going alot of people dont have a ton of money for docking and boating and fuel these days and when they do want to shell out over 1000 bucks its not to dock somewhere that you have your boat full of paint chips just from walking on the docks and getting in your boat. Vics boat dock in the rocks might no longer be the worst in the PGH Pool.
Rich, you said on June 23 that a hot water tank was ordered... Well its almost september how long does it take to order a hot water tank that you can pick up at home depot any day you want? You said the docks where getting painted.... ummm ya they are still flaking paint and half of them are still twisted.... I dock infront of your house so I dont have to worry much about it cause the parking lot cant sink i hope and I only have to worry about one finger but they docks all to the right of me have to walk down a dock thats on a 40 degree angle..VERY DANGEROUS would love to know what Brandports insurance would think of this. I seen a lady twist her ankle and limp back to her car after walking back from her boat. Maybe instead of telling people we are going to fix stuff and never do instead give the people that stayed and put up with this crap this year a discount next year to try to keep the boats you have left.
You should see the welds down at the lower end. I took a walk down there the other day to see why there was no boats down there.....Terrible. There is a main that is broke at a finger (secured by a rope that is fraying)and further up, the main docks weld is cracked off of the 8ft wide main. Island Boat club better keep his eyes open this winter. He might be able to score some free docks this winter and start an operating marina once again. So before we worry about water tanks and WI-FI, lets worry about a W-Elder.
Rich that water tank still on order? There is not even a light in the shower room so people can change guess them light bulbs are on order also?.... When these docks getting painted you said they would be before the 4th of july...... how about getting the straight? wifi hahahahaha that was funny.
So Rich Pulled my boat out last week after the steeler game and the weather was great... was going ot get a shower cause some lying POS said the water tank was on order 3 months ago but still not there.... Why does a water tank even need ordered go to home depot and pick up the cheapest one they have... how about that paint you where going to put on the docks? hmmmmmmm I think I can speak for alot of the people that stayed and tolerated the BS there this year that is it looks anything like it does now next spring the marina will be 25% full instead of 50% liek it was this year. It went from one of the nice to 100% the worst marina in the pgh pool real quick.. CONGRATS
Sounds like you will be docking at a new marina next season. It is a shame that the owners let the place get run down. The same thing happened to the Allegheny Marina. The city URA had bought the property and asked the owner to clean up some of the junk around the place and they would give him a long term lease. Well, he didn't do any of that and the place is no longer there. Let's hope that Fox Chapel goes forward with their plans to build the marina at the South Side Works so that the Pittsburgh Pool will have another marina.
I know you know who I am and I am Wayne's friend. Calling me a POS here is both low class and uncalled for. Come up and knock on my door and say your piece if that is what makes you feel good. Wayne has been sick, and I have tried to help him. He did say he was going to make the reported repairs but he actually did not. That is not my fault. If being loyal to a sick friend is below your comfort level, then so be it. I tried to keep some customers and tried to make Wayne respond. It failed. We did get the docks raised twice and welded. New floatation was added and secured. I already have a painter on line for the spring. We will try again. If you do not want to stay, good luck in your boating elsewhere. Hopefully Branchport will be what we both remember. I can ony hope. I can not promise. So again, if you want to call me a POS to my face, and not hide behind a screen name here, feel free to knock on my door and we can "communicate". I have been a cop for 40+ years and believe I can address your concerns clearly and to your satisfaction. POS is not nice. I look forward to meeting you.
Anything new? We have docked here for a couple seasons until this past one. Wayne didn't send a deposit reminder and we thought that was odd so we called him but never received a call back. I know he is ill but no one is asking him to do the work. That's what a property manager is for.
anyone know whats up with Branchport this year ? Looks real bad down there. I heard wayne lost his Lease for half the Marina. Is anyone sending money or should we assume its closed.
I talked to Rich who helps wayne with the marina.
He said that there was a group that attempted to take his lease somehow but that the attempt failed. They are scrapping and repainting all the docks this week and plan to remove that old trailer from the hill.
I plan to stop down early next week and take a look around..
